The Ringside Charitable Trust
Register Charity No: 1185462
Former Heavyweight World Champion, Joe Frazier once said, 'Boxing is the only sport you can get your brain shook, your money took and your name in the undertaker book.'
Whilst boxing is a sport that has changed millions of lives throughout the world for the better, Joe's words reveal the sad and often overlooked reality that many boxers face after hanging up the gloves.
Once their glory days are behind them, many retired boxers find themselves struggling with the long-term physical effects of enduring the gruelling lifestyle of a boxer. In addition to the toll boxing takes on the physical health of a fighter, there are also many retired boxers suffering in a myriad of other ways such as depression, alcoholism and drug addiction.
The challenges many retired boxers face is also worsened by the fact that very few of them have lifelong financial security. Whilst it might seem to the majority of the public that boxers are multimillionaires, enjoying the trappings their fame has brought them, this is only true for the elite few.
The Ringside Charitable Trust was established in order to provide forgotten boxers a lifeline.
The aim of The Ringside Charitable Trust is to open a home specifically for the treatment and care of former boxers. The home will provide medical help, facilities for ex-boxers to be cared for both short and long term, a cinema room for the boxers to watch films of their old fights and a non-alcoholic bar where they can sit together and reminisce.
The boxing community is one big family, and as such, everyone within the community needs to come together to support our own. The Ringside Charitable Trust is working tirelessly to make a difference to the lives of the heroes of the sport. After giving their all to boxing it's only proper they are taken of.

The Frank Bruno Foundation
The Frank Bruno Foundation exists to provide support and encouragement and the motivation to succeed for those currently facing or recovering from mental ill-health issues. We aim to achieve this by providing opportunities to participate in a wellbeing and non-contact boxing programme, supported by a need led wrap around service.
The Frank Bruno Foundation directly supports participants in building self-esteem, confidence, resilience and discipline and in applying such skills to their daily lives.
We will continue to campaign to raise public awareness of mental ill health and how this can affect anyone at any time, we will also continue to campaign to knockout the stigma surrounding this by the use of our social media platforms and the charity ambassadors to encourage anyone facing mental ill health to talk openly and not to feel discriminated against.
